Position Summary
The Construction Engineering Manager serves as the senior technical leader for Legacy Engineering's Construction Engineering group.
This individual will provide engineering support throughout construction, assist project teams with complex field challenges, develop structural and geotechnical solutions, mentor engineers and inspectors, and help expand the firm's construction engineering capabilities.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving practical engineering problems, collaborating with contractors, and helping clients keep projects moving.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead construction engineering services for commercial, municipal, industrial, transportation, and land development projects.
  • Provide engineering support during active construction.
  • Develop practical solutions for unforeseen field conditions.
  • Design retaining walls, foundation systems, and miscellaneous structural elements.
  • Review contractor submittals and shop drawings.
  • Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and field engineering questions.
  • Perform engineering evaluations of existing structures and infrastructure.
  • Review field reports and engineering recommendations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, geotechnical engineers, surveyors, and construction inspectors.
  • Participate in construction meetings with owners, contractors, and design teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, project scoping, and fee development.
  • Review engineering deliverables for quality and technical accuracy.
  • Develop construction engineering standards and technical procedures.
  • Support business development through client relationships and technical expertise.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and developing future engineering staff.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in construction engineering, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, or civil engineering.
  • Experience supporting projects during construction.
  • Strong understanding of retaining walls, foundation systems, and construction practices.
  • Ability to evaluate field conditions and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

Compensation for this position is $135,000 to $155,000/annually, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description.
