Job description

We are currently seeking a self-starting and highly experienced Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Manager to build and lead our VDC efforts. You will serve as the VDC expert in our company and will be responsible for implementing and managing digital construction methodologies, integrating building information modeling (BIM) processes, and driving innovation across projects. This role requires a proactive leader who can work independently, establish workflows, develop BIM execution plans for projects and collaborate closely with project teams to enhance project efficiency and accuracy. Responsibilities

  • Establish the vision, standards, and best practices for VDC within Cooper Tacia, ensuring alignment with project and company goals.
  • Oversee the integration of BIM in project planning, design coordination, clash detection, and construction execution.
  • Lead the transition from traditional construction methods to digital workflows, ensuring models are leveraged effectively in preconstruction, shop drawing phases and in the field.
  • Work closely with project managers, estimators, and superintendents to enhance project visualization, streamline construction processes, and improve efficiency.
  • Provide insights into BIM-related risks, support pricing decisions, and contribute to contract negotiations regarding VDC scope and deliverables.
  • Educate and train internal teams, including field staff and project managers, on visualization techniques, VDC workflows and best practices.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement the latest BIM/VDC technologies to improve presentations, project delivery and performance.
  • Use BIM models to enhance quality control, minimize errors, and improve coordination among trades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in BIM, VDC, or construction design, with a proven track record of implementing VDC strategies in commercial construction.
  • Expertise in BIM tools such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, Trimble SketchUp, AutoCAD, and other industry-standard software.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, estimating, and coordination principles.
  • Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Experience leading VDC initiatives and working independently to build new processes and workflows from scratch.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate across departments and drive company-wide adoption of VDC practices.
