Civil/Marine Superintendent - Construction Operations
Trumbull-Brayman Joint Venture Montgomery Lock & Dam Project - Monaca, Pennsylvania
Join one of the largest and most significant marine infrastructure projects in the United States. The Trumbull-Brayman Joint Venture is seeking an experienced Civil/Marine Superintendent to help lead construction of the Montgomery Lock & Dam Project in Monaca, Pennsylvania. This high-profile U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project offers long-term career stability, challenging work, and the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on the nation's inland waterway system with an estimated 8-year duration.
This is a long-term, full-time Supervisory position responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising all field construction activities associated with marine and heavy civil construction projects. This position ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality and environmental compliance. Typical activities include cofferdams, pile driving, dredging support, barges, heavy lifts, concrete infrastructure work and coordination.
This position offers stable, long-term employment on a high-profile federal infrastructure project.
Schedule & Compensation
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday - approximately 40 hours per week, majority of work will be on night shift.
This is a salaried exempt position offering a competitive compensation package based on experience.
Salary Range: $120,000 to $150,000 annually based on demonstrated prior work experience

Key Responsibilities
The Civil/Marine Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising all field construction activities associated with marine and heavy civil construction projects. This position ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities include:
  • Oversees and supervises field staff, craftworkers, and subcontractors.
  • Prepares work schedules and assignments.
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures.
  • Leads the project foremen performing all types of general contracting work, including specialty foundations, concrete, shoring, excavation, and marine related work.
  • Works with the Project General Superintendent to coordinate the hiring and moving of operational employees and equipment within the project.
  • Ensures compliance with safety plans, work plans and project specifications and monitors the performance of craftworkers and employees.
  • Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides progress reports to owners and architects; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
  • Trains and develops employees within current and future roles to meet both employee and company growth.
  • Collaborates with Owners, and other pertinent stakeholders to ensure project specifications, requirements, and other regulations are met.
  • Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in engineering plans are followed.
  • Executes construction contracts according to terms of agreement.
  • Monitors budgets throughout the assigned projects and communicates variances as they occur.
  • Ensures projects maintain records related to costs, quantities installed and inventory.
  • Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies.
  • Conducts daily Tool Box Talks and JSA's and weekly safety inspections of the overall site.
  • Ensures proper equipment is being used onsite for all functions of the work.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Civil/Marine Superintendent is expected to serve as a hands-on field leader, capable of overseeing and coordinating project construction operations.
Qualifications & Education
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field or the equivalent experience in heavy civil/marine construction required.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Marine Pile driving
    • Cofferdams
    • Heavy marine crane operations
    • Barges and floating equipment
    • Concrete construction
    • Marine demolition
    • River or waterfront construction
  • At least 10 years of Supervisory experience in heavy civil/marine construction is required.
  • Exposure to complex marine or other infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
  • Experience managing heavy civil construction projects, preferably concrete related, with multiple trades and numerous craft persons is required.
  • Experience with federal contracts, specifications, reports and records is required.
  • Experience with trade supervision including performance evaluations.
  • Experience with hiring, supervising, and assisting in training of union trades.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is required to be obtained.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Commitment to maintaining safe work practices
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Recent and verifiable work history required

Work Environment
Work is performed in a combination of field and office environments on an active heavy civil construction project. Duties include site walks and collaboration with operations and maintenance personnel.
