#Manager, Inventory and Supplies Cardiac Services
The Inventory Manager for Cardiac Services is responsible for the oversight, management, and optimization of inventory supporting cardiovascular operations, including the catheterization lab, electrophysiology (EP) lab,. This role ensures the availability of critical, high-cost, and time-sensitive supplies (e.g., stents, valves, implants) while maintaining cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and inventory accuracy.
Cardiac Inventory Oversight
  • Manage inventory of cardiac-specific supplies, including:
    • Coronary stents, balloons, catheters
    • Implantable devices (pacemakers, ICDs, loop recorders)
    • Structural heart devices (TAVR, MitraClip, etc.)
  • Ensure availability of critical items for emergent and scheduled procedures
    • Monitor expiration dates, recalls, and lot tracking for all implants
  • Clinical Operations Support
    • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and cath/EP lab staff to anticipate case needs
      • Build and maintain procedure-based inventory par levels
      • Support case cart preparation and real-time supply needs during procedures
  • Vendor & Implant Management
    • Coordinate with vendors for consignment inventory and replenishment
    • Manage vendor relationships and ensure contract compliance
    • Validate pricing, usage, and billing accuracy for high-cost implants
  • Inventory Control & Accuracy
    • Perform cycle counts and physical inventories for high-value items
    • Track and reconcile implant usage per case (charge capture accuracy is critical)
    • Investigate discrepancies, missing inventory, or undocumented usage
  • Data, Reporting & Financial Stewardship
    • Monitor key metrics such as:
    • Inventory turns and stock levels
    • Cost per case
    • Waste/expired products
    • Charge capture accuracy
  • Generate reports for leadership on supply utilization and cost trends
    • Partner with finance and supply chain teams to manage budget targets
  • Process Improvement
    • Implement best practices for cardiac inventory workflows (e.g., just-in-time inventory, consignment models)
    • Reduce waste and eliminate inefficiencies in supply utilization
    • Support system implementations (e.g., RFID, barcode scanning, automated inventory systems)
  • Compliance & Regulatory
    • Ensure compliance with:
      • Joint Commission standards
      • FDA tracking requirements for implants
      • Hospital policies for documentation and traceability
      • Maintain accurate lot/serial number documentation for patient safety
  • Team Collaboration / Leadership
    • Educate clinical staff on inventory processes and documentation
    • Coordinate with central supply, sterile processing, and purchasing

Supervise inventory coordinators
Qualifications
Required:
3-5+ years of experience in hospital supply chain, preferably in cardiac services
Strong knowledge of cardiac procedures and supplies (cath lab, EP, OR)
Experience with inventory systems (e.g., Lawson, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Epic Supply Chain)
Understanding of consignment inventory and implant tracking
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred)
