Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring at least 2 years of cardiac ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of a teaching hospital
  • Care for a critically ill cardiovascular patient population including post cardiac surgery, CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, and VAD patients
  • Estimated patient ratio of 1:1-2
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00-07:30
  • 36 hours per week
  • Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday for night shift)
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac ICU experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skills required: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz/PA line monitoring, conscious sedation, balloon pump management, and PA line care
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second from a Charge RN or above; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide direct critical care nursing to cardiovascular ICU patients including those recovering from cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization/intervention
  • Manage advanced cardiac support devices and monitor for post-operative and hemodynamic complications
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response as needed
  • Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and manage IV insulin protocols
  • Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal, sheath removal, and fresh tracheostomy care
  • Ohio fingerprinting is required promptly after contract signing due to strict state credentialing timelines
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to work as a traveler at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract prior to start, limited to 7 days or less
