Are you a skilled mediator, coach, and people advocate who believes in the power of healthy workplace culture? The Black Cultural Zone CDC (BCZ) is seeking a Team Member Relations Thrive Coach to lead conflict resolution, performance coaching, health and safety compliance, and team member wellness support. This role is central to BCZ's commitment to a thriving, mission-aligned team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead Performance Coaching: Serve as the primary facilitator for performance coaching conversations, supporting team members and leads in navigating growth, accountability, and professional development.
- Facilitate Conflict Resolution: Lead conflict resolution processes, mediation sessions, and health and safety investigations in collaboration with the Manager, Human Resources and COO.
- Manage Leave Support: Support team members navigating life events requiring leave by connecting them to EAP resources, benefits information, and organizational support systems.
- Oversee Team Member Recognition: Manage team acknowledgment systems including shoutouts, newsletter highlights, anniversaries, and milestone celebrations to foster a culture of appreciation.
- Support Wellness Initiatives: Design and facilitate team member wellness programming, check-ins, and culture-building activities aligned with BCZ's THRIVE framework.
- Maintain Compliance Documentation: Complete government and compliance documentation related to health and safety investigations, leave administration, and team member relations matters.
- Provide Coaching Office Hours: Hold regular open office hours to provide confidential coaching, guidance, and support to team members across all BCZ entities.
- Uphold BCZ Values: Model BCZ's C.R.E.A.T.E. values in all coaching interactions, team collaborations, and organizational culture-building activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Human Resources, Social Work, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in employee relations, coaching, mediation, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex interpersonal dynamics and facilitating difficult conversations in a workplace setting.
- Strong knowledge of California labor law, EEO compliance, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust across diverse teams.
- Commitment to BCZ's mission of centering Black culture, arts, and economic empowerment in East Oakland.

- Status: Full-Time, Salary, 40 hours per week
- Schedule: Monday–Friday; some evenings and weekends as required
- Location: Hybrid — primarily at the Aya Exchange and BCZ hub locations
- Salary: $67,656 – $82,550 per year
