Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Confirmation Analyst supports commercial gas marketing and natural gas liquids (NGL) operations by validating, reconciling, and confirming physical and financial transactions. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of trade documentation, including ISDA agreements and related confirmations, while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Generate and review standard form confirmations for transactions entered under master contracts, ensuring commercial terms are correctly captured and confirmations are dispatched within contract deadlines.
  • Analyze incoming counterparty and broker confirmations for natural gas liquids ("NGL"), financial, and physical gas confirmations to ensure that the deal parameters match the commercial terms in the Targa generated confirmation and that no legal language or additional commercial terms have been included on the confirmation.
  • Interpret and validate contract terms, including pricing structures, index references, and settlement provisions
  • Reconcile discrepancies between trading systems, contracts, and counterparty confirmations
  • Investigate and resolve confirmation breaks, volume variances, and pricing mismatches
  • Coordinate with trading, contract administration, scheduling, risk, accounting, and legal teams to ensure alignment on transaction terms
  • Track and manage outstanding confirmations, ensuring timely execution and compliance deadlines are met.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for all confirmed transactions
  • Working knowledge of ISDA documentation and Dodd-Frank to manage the confirmation process for financial deals tied to ISDA agreements. This includes confirmation execution, deal entry into applicable systems and any related Dodd-Frank compliance requirements
  • Assist in implementing process improvements and automation initiatives within confirmation workflows
  • Monthly Risk Control reporting and management of complex business processes
  • Special projects as requested

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in an energy trading and marketing environment performing verification of NGL, physical gas, and financial confirmations, or equivalent industry knowledge.
  • Experience with industry standard contracts and the confirmation process, including Dodd-Frank compliance
  • Experience interpreting special provisions, legal and contractual language (ISDA, NAESB, confirmations)
  • Experience with energy trading and risk management (ETRM) systems such as RightAngle and/or Allegro
  • High proficiency with tools such as SharePoint, Access, Business Objects, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Must be task oriented, meticulous with a high degree of accuracy especially with volumes, pricing, and contractual terms
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in complex transactions
  • High aptitude and confidence in learning new computer software programs
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both internal teams and external counterparties
  • Ability to recognize issues by analyzing a large volume of information in a systematic and logical manner
  • Detail oriented, thorough, focused, perceptive, and inquisitive
  • Highly dependable and responsive
  • Experience with system implementations, user acceptance testing, process documentation, and preferred special projects
  • College degree preferred
  • Regular and reliable attendance
