Job description

Job Description:

Saab, Inc. is seeking a dynamic, results-oriented Configuration Data Manager to join our team in Syracuse, New York. This role requires proven experience implementing Configuration Management (CM) principles and best practices derived from EIA-649, EIA-649-1, and MIL-HDBK-61B. We emphasize process excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the CM process.

Reporting to the Manager of Configuration Management, you will have an immediate impact by ensuring contract and process compliance through the use of tools that support documentation and software release processes. The Configuration Data Manager will support multiple Saab business units by collaborating with program teams to maintain data structures and manage data and documentation deliverables.

This position will support Saab teams primarily at our Syracuse, NY office, with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement. On-site presence is preferred and may be required based on business needs, program requirements, and customer support activities. Some travel may be required to support customer audits.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for program technical data and coordinate data deliveries in accordance with Saab standards and program requirements.

  • Ensure quality standards are maintained and that content creators apply correct data identification and marking while following review and release procedures.

  • Represent the Configuration Management organization on assigned program teams and attend meetings as required.

  • Proactively identify and resolve errors to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery.

  • Build software deliverables; identify, document, track, structure, and maintain software databases; and track related documents and other items.

  • Participate in internal audits to ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and company-specific QMS requirements.

  • Perform requirements analysis for proposals, cost estimating, and CM planning.

  • Perform data entry, manipulate and analyze data, and transmit data via FTP and other methods.

  • Perform status accounting and reporting, and conduct audits of processes and data libraries.

  • Contribute to Functional and Physical Configuration Audits (FCA/PCA).

  • Utilize defect tracking and version control systems.

  • Proactively define and implement tasks for yourself and others.

  • Train and mentor CM and other professionals to ensure knowledge transfer and skill development.

  • Travel up to 10% annually, as required.

Compensation Range: $80,900 - $101,100

When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BSdegreewith 8+ years of relevant experience with working knowledge of Configuration Data Management processes, or an MA/MS degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven Configuration Data Management experience.

  • Working knowledge of EIA-649, EIA-649-1, MIL-HDBK-61B, ITAR, DFARS, and NIST 800-171.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Familiarity with data libraries, version control systems, and controlled document workflows.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and manage time effectively.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.

  • Experience using Subversion (SVN).

  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat or an equivalent application.

  • Ability to obtain a Security Clearance, if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Configuration or Data Management certification.

  • Experience using Teamcenter PLM.

  • Experience using the Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, and Crucible toolset.

  • Experience with Unix and/or Linux.
