Job description

We are hiring CF Engineer (Configuration/Control File Engineer) - onsite for a Contract To Hire position in Dallas, TX
Job Description: CF Engineer (Configuration/Control File Engineer).
The CF Engineer will be responsible for generating, validating, and implementing network configuration files (CFs), ensuring alignment with engineering designs, operational standards, and customer migration requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, validate, and deliver configuration files (CFs) for transport and IP network elements supporting core and edge networks.
Support implementation of network builds, migrations, and augmentations by preparing configuration data for routers, switches, DWDM systems, and related platforms.
Coordinate closely with transport planners, design engineers, and implementation teams to ensure accurate configuration alignment.
Review and interpret network design documents, provisioning data, and circuit layouts to produce executable configuration scripts.
Ensure configuration integrity, compliance, and documentation across all network changes.
Assist with troubleshooting and post-activation validation during network cutovers or migrations.
Maintain version control, naming conventions, and configuration baselines in accordance with engineering standards.
Identify and escalate discrepancies, automation opportunities, and recurring design issues.
Required Qualifications
Must have hands-on experience with CFEngine.
Manage configuration management policies and infrastructure using CFEngine, supporting both legacy CFEngine 2 environments and modern CFEngine 3 implementations.
3 5+ years of experience in transport, IP, or optical network engineering.
Proficiency with Cisco, Juniper, or Ciena network devices and configuration syntax.
Strong understanding of Layer 1 3 technologies.
Experience generating or editing configuration templates and scripts.
Ability to read and interpret network design plans, LLDs, and logical connectivity diagrams.
Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and quality control.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a large enterprise environment. Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as a Transport or CF Engineer.
Working knowledge of migration and turn-up procedures for large network deployments.
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related discipline.
