What is the difference between Configuration Control vs Quality Control?
| Aspect | Configuration Control | Quality Control |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Focus | Managing and maintaining product configurations throughout the development lifecycle | Inspecting and testing products to ensure they meet quality standards |
| Activities | Change management, documentation, version control | Testing, inspection, defect identification |
| Work Environment | Engineering, product development, manufacturing | Manufacturing, testing labs, quality assurance |
| Certifications | Often requires engineering or systems management certifications | Quality assurance certifications like CQE or Six Sigma |
Configuration Control focuses on managing product versions and changes, ensuring consistency across development stages. Quality Control emphasizes testing and inspection to verify products meet quality standards. Both roles are essential in manufacturing and engineering industries but serve different purposes in the product lifecycle.
