Digital Consultants is seeking an experienced configuration manager to be responsible for ensuring the integrity of a project or system's performance by managing its operational settings and keeping its version documentation current. Also helping to coordinate and manage the numerous changes that can occur during a project or system's life cycle.
Location: Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring accurate records of configuration items (Cis) and their relationships.
  • Develop and maintain configuration management plans detailing processes, procedures, and standards for tracking system components and changes.
  • Establish and control configuration baselines for software and hardware, proving reference points for future builds and changes.
  • Coordinate configuration control boards to review and approve proposed changes to system configurations.
  • Conduct audits and reviews to verify that physical and software configurations conform to documented standards.
  • Track and report configuration status, metrics, and compliance to management and technical teams.
  • Provide training and support to technical staff on configuration management policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Analyze and resolve configuration discrepancies and recommend process improvements.
  • Collaborate with IT, development, and operations teams to integrate configuration management practices smoothly.

Requirements
Education: High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience)
Clearance: TS/SCI
Certifications: DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+,CND)
  • Technical knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and IT service management.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as SNOW, Git, Mercurial, Perforce, Ansible, Puppet, or Progress Chief.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and integrity of configurations.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, IT, or related field
  • Professional certification in configuration management
  • Project-management skills to plan, organize, and lead configuration management activities
