Job Title: Configuration Analyst

Job Description

The Configuration Analyst plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of product configuration data across the full lifecycle of aerospace programs. This position evaluates engineering modifications and product updates, manages configuration records, supports change control activities, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to maintain compliant, well-controlled baselines for complex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate engineering modifications and product updates to identify impacts on system baselines, documentation, manufacturing processes, and released configurations.
  • Coordinate the processing, review, and implementation of engineering changes, revisions, waivers, deviations, and product updates through established procedures.
  • Maintain configuration records and ensure accuracy of product structure information throughout the lifecycle of assigned programs.
  • Support change control activities by preparing complete documentation packages and facilitating approvals through formal review processes.
  • Generate reports and metrics to track configuration status, document revisions, and program-level change activity.
  • Assist with planning and execution of configuration audits and product baseline reviews to verify compliance and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and program teams to maintain data consistency and configuration integrity across all systems.
  • Review technical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.
  • Administer product configuration data within applicable enterprise systems and configuration management tools, including PLM and PDM platforms.
  • Support design reviews, production readiness reviews, and other technical gate activities that require accurate configuration data and traceability.
  • Create, update, and maintain product relationships, bill-of-material (BOM) structures, and associated traceability records.
  • Research technical information, including components, materials, specifications, and industry standards, to support configuration decisions.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on document control, revision management, and engineering change procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, compliance, and configuration control processes, and contribute to implementing enhancements.
  • Remain current on industry best practices, standards, and technologies related to product lifecycle and configuration management.
  • Contribute to special projects and other operational initiatives as assigned, supporting broader configuration management objectives.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting configuration management, document control, product lifecycle management (PLM), engineering change management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with PLM and PDM systems for managing product configuration and engineering data.
  • Proficiency working with bill-of-material (BOM) structures and maintaining accurate product relationships and traceability.
  • Experience processing and managing engineering change orders, revision notices, waivers, deviations, and configuration changes.
  • Ability to generate and interpret configuration status reports and metrics for program-level oversight.
  • Strong understanding of configuration control principles and practices in an engineering environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review engineering drawings and technical documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Experience using CAD software and managing CAD libraries in support of configuration management activities.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering data management, document control procedures, and revision management.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling complex product structures and technical records.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineering, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and program teams.
  • Ability to support audits, baseline reviews, and technical gate reviews with organized, accurate configuration data.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in an engineering environment in Columbia, MD, working daily in an office setting with some light assembly work as part of supporting product configuration activities. The position operates within a small configuration management team, offering close collaboration with engineering and other technical groups in a growing aerospace organization. The schedule follows a 9/80 work pattern, providing every other Friday off while maintaining full-time hours. Work is performed using enterprise configuration management tools, PLM and PDM systems, CAD software, and standard office and engineering equipment in a professional, team-oriented environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57.90 - $90.98/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
