Data Governance and Analysis Expert

Location: Raritan NJ Rate: 80/hr. W2 (only W2 hires) Duration: long term (end of the year with possibility for 2024 as well)

Organizations have realized that traditional data governance methods are no longer effective and are actively seeking to identify and implement automated processes and technology solutions to inform and manage data governance. For successful data governance, process and technology need to work together. This Data Governance and Analysis Expert will be accountable to help develop the Data Analysis capabilities of the client's Data Governance and Management program, working to establish and promote intelligent data and analytics governance policies, standards, processes, and technologies to meet overall business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leverage data governance, search, and classification tools, including Microsoft Purview and NetApp Cloud Data Sense, to inventory and analyze the content and usage across large data repositories
  • Leverage data governance, search, and classification tools to locate private and confidential data and ensure that it is appropriately protected
  • Leverage data governance, search, and classification tools to apply keywords and machine learning to classify data, and identify data that has Record Retention, Legal Hold and other regulatory requirements
  • Help to develop & maintain an inventory of the client information and storage services, including authoritative systems and service owners
  • Drive data analysis initiatives and contribute to the establishment of a Data Governance Program
  • Partner with Business, Legal, Privacy, RIM, and IT Stakeholders to develop Data Analysis Approaches and a roadmap for implementing them
  • Develop dashboards, Power BI reports and other data visualization tools to help key stakeholders to understand complex data analyses and make informed decisions.
  • Facilitate bi-directional communication of strategies, priorities, and issues with data governance partners
  • Define the governance framework to improve data insight through change management to modify organizational behavior, policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, business processes, related tools, and data architecture
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data storage classifications, approved storage platforms, data retention best practices, evaluation of new storage options and configuration standards
  • Support the evaluation, selection and implementation of tools and technologies that enable improved understanding of data, users' data usage, and allow for enhanced and automated data governance processes
  • Work with key stakeholder groups to collect search and categorization criteria, such as keywords, data types, created dates, modified dates, etc., and then determine how these can be leveraged within search and classification tools and technologies to appropriately classify data and disposition it appropriately
  • Use these tools and technologies to analyze large segments of aggregated data and produce clear data stories with actionable items
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of overall professional IT experience is required
  • 3 years demonstrable experience in data analysis required
  • Experience with data governance, search and classification tools especially Microsoft Purview or NetApp Cloud Data, but also Amazon Comprehend, Congruity 360, Spirion, AdLib, iMedical, MarkLogic, etc. preferred
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices
  • Proven experience in business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Experience working with very large data sets
  • Shown consulting skills, with organizational change concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change, and performance measurement system design
  • Knowledge of data architecture and data related technology solutions
  • Internally and externally recognized subject matter expert who successfully influences the way things are done
  • Strong communication (oral, business writing, presenting, listening) and organizational skills
  • Strong end-user focus and service orientation skills
  • Ability to navigate and produce results in a global organization
