Job description

St. Joseph's Academy seeks a full-time Facilities Technician. This position works in conjunction with both the custodial and maintenance departments to ensure campus spaces, both interior and exterior, are properly cleaned and prepared for the students, faculty, staff and visitors. This person will have a practical knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of proper equipment, chemicals and products. He or she will interact with other SJA personnel as well as students, parents and visitors.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Possess two (2) years of experience in facility housekeeping
• Be able to work independently and as part of a team
• Have basic computer skills including email and timeclock software
• Be able to understand and follow instructions of supervisor
• Communicate and interact with other personnel in a professional manner
• Be reliable and dependable
• Be able to troubleshoot and problem-solve
• Be able to work well under pressure
• Be flexible to work when needed and to collaborate with other departments as needed
• Be able to stand, walk, carry, push, pull and have significant fine finger dexterity; be able to occasionally lift and move 20 pounds
• Be friendly, arrive on campus with a positive attitude, demonstrate integrity, and possess collaboration skills
• Be aware of the environment in which you work (a campus of young ladies who are minor); use good judgement regarding language, gestures, etc.
• Be able to work safely in accordance with SJA, OSHA, CDC (Covid) and other applicable policies
• Be familiar with all ten buildings on campus and their setup routines
• Be prepared to break away from usual routine for special needs or projects
• Behave in a manner aligned with the Mission of St. Joseph's Academy

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Meet as needed with the Director of Facilities or Lead Facilities Technician to address issues and needs
• Clock in and out for each shift and check mailbox for changes or set-ups
• Assist with setups and takedowns (classroom desks, tables, chairs, mats, stage, etc)
• Participate in staff and safety meetings, retreats or other events as required
• Clean spaces including but not limited to: reception areas, entry ways, chandeliers, classrooms, air vent covers, boards, desks, hallways, stairways, elevators, gathering areas, conference rooms,
• Use EPA and CDC approved chemicals and PPE as required
• Know which chemicals to use on different surfaces
• Report damage or malfunctioning equipment to Director of Facilities promptly

CLEANING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Clean spaces including but not limited to: reception areas, entry ways, chandeliers, classrooms, air vent covers, boards, desks, hallways, stairways, elevators, gathering areas, conference rooms, kitchens, sinks, water fountains, offices, bathrooms, glass, mirrors, tiles, locker rooms and janitorial closets
• Restock paper products and inform lead custodian when supplies are needed
• Sweep, mop, strip, wax floors, and vacuum carpets
• Remove trash from assigned areas of campus
• Maintain outside areas that include outdoor rugs, porch areas, tables, chairs, trash, benches and umbrellas
• Use outdoor equipment (such as a leaf blower) as assigned
• Clean windows, cobwebs and sidewalks
• Keep all equipment operating properly per manufacturer’s recommendations (clean equipment nightly, change mop heads, change belts and bags when needed)
• Secure all windows and lock buildings
• Perform other duties as assigned
