Position Overview

We currently have an immediate opening for an experienced Concrete Quality Control Technician to join our growing team. This position requires a detail oriented, customer service minded individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the highest level of quality control in the production of our ready-mix products at our plants and customer job sites under the direction of the Quality Control Manager.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • Test and monitor concrete at various plant and jobsites in to assure performance meets company, industry and customer standards and delivery goals.
  • Perform ACI and/ or LA DOTD quality control tests on aggregate and concrete products, including but not limited to: Field testing (slump, air content, unit weight, yield, cylinders, etc.), gradations on production aggregates, and lab work (compression testing and scheduling). Mixes and test trial batches.
  • Maintain lab area and lab equipment according to industry quality control standards.
  • Observe and record placement, sampling and testing abnormalities.
  • Working on construction sites and at ready-mixed concrete production facilities.
  • Maintain strong communication with dispatch, sales and production personnel throughout the placement.
  • Provide customer support onsite during the concrete placement.
  • Inspecting concrete prior to delivery and at the project site for product conformance with project specifications.
  • Sample and test plastic and hardened ready mixed concrete.
  • Cast, cure and transport concrete specimens.
  • Conduct on-site visual inspections of concrete being delivered.
  • Assist delivery drivers at the plant and onsite.
  • Assist production personnel at plant locations.
  • Observe and record performance, sampling and test abnormalities.
  • Follow all company safety regulations and policies at all times.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or other management employees.


Requirements

 Other Requirements:

  • Currently or have the ability to obtain ACI & LADOT field technician certifications within 1 year. Current certifications strongly preferred.
  • Punctuality, attendance, and dependability is essential in this role.
  • Problem solving and rapid decision-making abilities.
  • Working computer knowledge; including applicable Microsoft software.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Current, valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a quality control position.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • General knowledge of concrete mixes, its components, additives, and raw materials preferred.
  • Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical functions including area, volume, unit weight, and total weight computations.
  • Ability to accurately understand, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to accept and follow direction as provided by managers and ask questions when needed.
  • Able and willing to work varying shifts including early mornings, late afternoons, and weekends.
