About the Role
As a Quality Control Technician, you will play a key role in supporting ready-mix operations and jobsite success by performing field and lab testing to confirm concrete meets ASTM/ACI and job-specific requirements. You will test fresh concrete, prepare and test cylinders, document results, and communicate issues quickly so pours stay on track.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field testing on freshly mixed concrete for slump/workability, air content, temperature, and other specified properties.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and contractors on jobsites; relay relevant information and help manage pours and truck flow when needed.
  • Sample and test hardened concrete specimens and maintain proper curing and handling practices.
  • Document and record test results accurately; maintain detailed records of all testing activities and jobsite observations.
  • Monitor production quality and work with the QC and production teams to troubleshoot issues and improve consistency.
  • Assist with concrete mix design adjustments and optimization as needed to meet quality and performance standards.
  • Always follow all safety protocols and quality procedures, including jobsite and task-specific safety requirements and required PPE.

Quality Control Technician Qualifications
  • 1+ year experience in concrete field testing or a similar role in the construction/materials industry (preferred).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework in construction materials is a plus.
  • Knowledge of concrete testing methods and equipment; familiarity with relevant ASTM/ACI standards preferred.
  • ACI certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and communicate them clearly.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math and measurements accurately.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift/move materials as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
