PROJECT TECHNICAL DESIGNER

We're looking for a passionate technical designer who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative studio environment-and brings energy, curiosity, and creativity to every phase of the design process. Within our Real Estate team, you'll help transform spaces through building repositioning projects, including dynamic lobby renovations, thoughtfully designed business-ready suites, prebuilds, and innovative amenity spaces. Overview

As a mid-level design professional, you will contribute to project delivery across multiple phases, including design development and technical execution. This role requires a strong foundation in architecture and interior design, and the ability to work independently on small- to medium-scale projects or to support larger initiatives under senior leadership. You will be responsible for design documentation, consultant coordination, and project execution, ensuring high-quality outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading and owning the technical execution of small and medium-sized projects of limited complexity.
  • Responsible for actively and regularly partnering with design and management leaders to execute the project, coordinate resources and integrate inputs from project inception to completion.
  • Participate as a leading member of the project team in all aspects of project scope - informing the workplan, supporting design, complying with jurisdictional requirements, leading and producing content for all phases of documentation, overseeing construction administration services and coordinating with outside consultants.
  • Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned project, including investigation, evaluation and recommendation of design solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the production of construction documents is in concert with design intent.
  • Conduct code analyses and act as a point of contact with jurisdictions.
  • Perform submittal reviews during construction, maintain RFI and submittal logs.
  • Assist in managing client expectations.
  • Coordinates communication between the project team, subcontractors, and other disciplines.
  • Conducts on-site observations and prepares architect's field reports.
  • Responsible for document coordination and design detailing.
  • Coordinates project teams and team assignments to complete interior design and/or architectural projects
  • Use of advanced techniques and modification/extension of theories, precepts, and practices.
  • Performs work requiring judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/ modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Specialized strength in technical execution, knowledge of the full design process, competent in all conventional aspects of interior design and/or architecture.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors and staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with all levels of management and staff.

  • Experience in all phases of interior design, architecture and engineering, including substantial and varied experience in project planning.
  • Experience in all project phases, from strategic planning and programming through construction and post-occupancy phases.
  • Experience in construction document preparation and field operations.
  • Knowledge of building materials, building codes, specifications, construction techniques, interior and/or architectural detailing.
  • Experience with building codes, ADA requirements, zoning and generally knowledgeable in jurisdictional processes.
  • Sufficient knowledge of engineering disciplines to coordinate work.
  • Competent in business writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in REVIT, Bluebeam, Newforma, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office and other applicable programs.
  • Possess BIM modeling skills.

Requirements

  • Degree in architecture or interior design from an accredited university.
  • Design professional with (typically) no less than five years of relevant experience in commercial interior design and/or architecture.
