Job Description:
Come join the team at Techtronic Industries, the world leader in cordless technology spanning Power Tools, Outdoor Power Equipment, Floor Care Appliances and Accessories. We currently have an open Assistant Manager position in the Advanced Concepts group at our Anderson, SC office.
Advanced Concepts is an interdisciplinary innovation group of designers and engineers within the Power Tool division, tasked with developing cutting-edge concepts for brands such as RYOBI and RIDGID. You will work hand and hand with other Advanced Concepts team members, as well as engineering, industrial design, analytical, and project management groups to deliver functional prototypes that can be evaluated for feasibility or concept recommendations that can be used for later product development. Your day-to-day activities will include: brainstorms, designing and building prototypes, feasibility testing, and concept refinement. We are a very hands-on group that thrives on learning throughout our diverse projects to create new and innovative products.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Daily Responsibilities of the Concept Engineering Team to deliver prototype concepts of future products.
  • Ideate and create prototypes that demonstrate future solutions for future product needs.
  • Ideate and create demos showcasing our products' performance and features
  • Work with cross functional team that includes, Industrial Designers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers
  • Build and Manage budget, schedule, and quality expectations to meet key milestones
  • Communicate technical details and concepts to both technical and non-technical team members

Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Mechanical or B.A. in Industrial Design
  • 5+ years' experience in design, prototyping, and/or test fixture development
  • 2+ years' experience managing a team (3+ People)
  • 3D CAD experience
  • Experience with hands-on fabrication methodologies (3D printing, woodworking, metal working)
  • Experience with electronics including Arduino and Raspberry PI is a plus.
  • Understanding of key performance metrics such as power, speed, and torque.
  • Experience with measurement equipment for vibration & sound is a plus
  • An eye for aesthetically pleasing designs is a plus.
  • Travel required: 0-5%
