JOB DESCRIPTION:
Role Summary/Purpose:
The Wiring Operator performs various duties associated with the assembly of electronic equipment, cable assemblies, mechanical assemblies and tag generation.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Utilize and interpret engineering electrical schematics, plans, and prints to assemble and wire projects (bungalows, cases, racks) for railroad signaling.
• Work from complex verbal/written instructions, drawings, and /or documentation to determine methods of wiring where procedures are not readily available.
• Strong attention to details.
• Work with computer programs and schematic/drawings to create wiring identification tags.
• Work as an effective team member focused on meeting/exceeding business goals and creating a safe working environment and culture.
• Use pneumatic/standard crimpers, hand tools, and power tools such as drills to perform work.
• Proactively work with others to increase productivity and reduce cost.
• Meet/exceed department metrics to include; efficiency, utilization rates, DPMO (Defects per Million Opportunities).
Qualifications/Requirements:
• High School Diploma / GED
Eligibility Requirements:
• Ability to use tools including: pneumatic/standard crimpers, hand tools and power tools, solder iron.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, stretch, and reach
• Ability to distinguish basic colors
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to work with hands extended above the head while standing on a ladder
• Ability to read and understand fractions
• Ability to work repetitively stripping and crimping wire
• Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
Desired Characteristics:
• Possess a basic mechanical aptitude, with the ability to realize an acceptable final layout and wiring based on non-scale drawings and general practices.
• Previous experience of AC/DC circuits
• Previous soldering experience
• Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills
• Previous experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications
The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Warrensburg, MO is $20.19 per hour during training and after 90 days of employment increases to $21.00 per hour. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. KB Signaling is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 10 paid holidays, and 2 personal holidays throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies. Employees working on federal contracts covered by the Federal Paid Sick Leave requirements will be notified and will receive benefits consistent and compliant with the FPSL requirements. Hired applicant will be able to purchase company stock, subject to the relevant plan documents and annual bonuses based on achievement of certain metrics.
