Job description

Knowledge and Experience
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must be enrolled in a Vehicle Maintenance/Diesel Technician program and be able to dedicate at minimum 2 years (4 Semesters.) to the Apprentice program. Must be able to maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Must have basic comprehension and math skills, intermediate computer experience.
  • Capable of understanding and following oral and written instructions
  • Must be able to maintain a valid VA driver's license
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Willingness to work Flexible Schedule in a 24/7 work environment

Accountabilities/Responsibilities
  • Position is a maximum of twenty-five (2S) hours per week
  • Maintain full time status and GPA of 3,0 at designated higher education learning center
  • Develop entry level understanding of all systems onboard the fleet transportation vehicles
  • Perform Oil and Lube Services
  • Assist in performing Preventative Maintenance inspection and proper documentation
  • Assist Mentor with routine repairs/maintenance of equipment
  • Ability to continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal and informal training sessions in order to stay updated with rapidly changing transit technology
  • Maintains an organized service department workspace
  • Maintain a customer-focused attitude to complement a high level of motivation and energy
  • Contribute to a positive work environment
  • lnteraction with other Fleet personnel. Minimize waste.
  • Exhibit knowledge and use of proper safety equipment at all times
