Overview
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking our next Systems Engineer III!!
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking Systems Engineer III personnel Solution Architect, and Systems Engineer roles), to support the NISSC 3 program in Colorado Springs. These positions perform technical planning, requirements management, configuration, verification, and system integration activities in a Secret/TS/SCI environment.
Responsibilities
  • The Systems Engineers will lead and support engineering investigations, risk management, process improvement, and technical documentation to ensure systems meet contract, customer, and mission objectives.
  • Perform technical planning, requirements management, and configuration activities to support complex mission systems and architectures.
    • Support system integration, verification, and validation, including test planning, execution, and analysis of results.
    • Conduct engineering investigations to diagnose and resolve system issues, including root cause analysis and recommended corrective actions.
    • Lead or support requirements analysis, allocation, and traceability across hardware, software, and network components.
    • Contribute to technical risk management, including identification, assessment, mitigation planning, and tracking.
    • Support engineering process improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with program standards and best practices.
    • Track and manage system obsolescence, supporting technology refresh, upgrades, and transition planning.
    • Develop, review, and maintain technical deliverables such as system engineering plans, interface control documents, design descriptions, and test reports.
    • Prepare and manage technical documentation, engineering plans, training inputs, and supportability analyses in alignment with program needs and contract requirements.
    • Coordinate with cross functional teams (operations, cybersecurity, configuration management, logistics, test) to ensure integrated engineering solutions and supportability.

Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, or complex system administration/integration in secure, mission critical (DoD or similar) environments.
    • Expertise in system administration and troubleshooting in support of multiple mission systems.
    • Strong skills in preventive and corrective maintenance with a focus on system availability and operational readiness.
    • Experience supporting incident response, including troubleshooting, documentation, and coordination of corrective actions.
    • Proficiency in managing process documentation, operational logs, and technical records to maintain data integrity and traceability.
    • Demonstrated ability to contribute technical input for performance optimization and to oversee compliance with engineering and procedural standards.
    • Experience working with cross functional teams to align engineering tasks with program objectives and schedules.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field,
    OR
    • Equivalent DoD/Military training in systems engineering, systems administration, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum: Active Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain TS/SCI.
  • Holds a DoD 8140 qualifying certification; one or more of the following (or equivalent) is required/preferred:
    - SecurityX / CASP+
    - CCNP Security
    - CCSP
    - FITSPO
    - GFACT

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $96,800.00/Yr. - USD $161,500.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
