Job description

As a Systems Engineer at Vatic, you will be tasked with maintaining, optimizing, and growing the infrastructure that powers our low-latency trading, and research systems. You will work across servers, networking equipment, cloud resources, and other specialized equipment to deliver performance, stability, and determinism. This role is highly visible within the organization and you will have the opportunity to work across the business to help build innovative technology solutions.

If you possess the following, we would love to explore what is available for you on our team.

  • Earned or will earn a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field
  • At least 3 years of hands-on administration experience in a low-latency trading environment
  • Excellent understanding of the Linux ecosystem and expertise in installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux servers
  • Expertise in tuning x86 Linux servers for low latency and deterministic performance
  • Understanding of, and experience with management of high precision clock synchronization technologies
  • Experience with automating system builds and configuration management  tools
  • A strong understanding of networking concepts and key protocols (Ethernet, IP, and UDP multicast)
  • An automation and standardization mindset

  • Expertise with RHEL or downstream derivatives
  • Experience managing large-scale compute clusters and high-performance distributed storage systems
  • Hands on administration with Cisco and Arista network switches
  • Exposure to Google Cloud Platform and its multitude of services

The base salary range for this role is between $200,000 and $300,000. The base salary range does not include any other form of compensation, such as any bonus amounts, or any benefits.  Factors that may impact the agreed upon base salary within the range for a particular candidate include years of experience, level of education obtained, skill set, and other factors.
