Hybrid 2 days/ WK in Cambridge, MA
Our client seeks a System Administrator - Mid to support a federal program in Cambridge, MA. The role will manage day-to-day administration of Windows-centric infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments, including Active Directory, file and print services, VMware, and AWS/Azure operations. The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant systems administration experience. Candidates should be team-oriented, able to prioritize tasks, document procedures, and support stable operations with limited supervision. This is a full-time hybrid role, 2 days in office and 3 days offsite, with no travel expected.
This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:
  • Perform day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for infrastructure servers.
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain the stability and performance of Windows Active Directory infrastructure.
  • Provide daily operational support for a datacenter, including monitoring environmental conditions and UPS, coordinating equipment delivery, and maintaining asset inventories.
  • Maintain current security patch and service pack levels.
  • Manage operations in AWS, Azure, and other cloud vendor environments.
  • Track delegated issues requiring cross-team interaction to resolution.
  • Create and maintain cohesive documentation for team support, LAN, and technical application support.
  • Comply with data retention policies and update contingency backup plans such as Commvault.

Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of 6 years administrating some combination of Windows/Linux servers (on-prem or cloud), Active Directory, file/print management, VMware, and cloud application instances.
  • Cross-platform exposure to Windows Server, VMware, and Linux products.
  • Experience working within AWS and Azure environments.
  • Ability to manage priorities and ensure lower-priority tasks are tracked.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear documentation.
  • Knowledge of systems, software, hardware, and networking communications.
  • Problem-solving skills for moderately complex computer and network issues.
  • Customer service skills with effective written and verbal communication.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft BitLocker, enterprise backup products (NetBackup, Commvault), monitoring tools (WhatsUp, SCOM), cloud management consoles (AWS/Azure), and remote desktop technologies (VPN, RDP).
  • Ability to attain a Position of Public Trust and complete the eApp NBIS form.

Education Requirements:
