Job description

The selected candidate will support cloud infrastructure and software development activities for the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) NAS Innovation and Emerging Concepts (NIEC) laboratory at the William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Pomona, NJ. This position will primarily support cloud-based research and development efforts utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS), containerization technologies, and modern software development practices. Candidates should possess a foundation in software engineering, programming concepts, and cloud technologies.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the development, deployment, and maintenance of cloud-based systems and applications
  • Assist with the configuration and management of AWS cloud environments
  • Participate in software development, testing, integration, and troubleshooting activities
  • Develop and maintain software applications utilizing a variety of programming languages and technologies
  • Support research, prototyping, and simulation activities, including projects utilizing the Godot game engine
  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions supporting FAA research initiatives

FAA Security Onboarding and Start Date:

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a Position of Public Trust. Candidates should be aware that completion of the FAA security onboarding process may require two or more months prior to beginning work.
  • The anticipated start date for this position is September 14, 2026.

Work Location Requirement:

This role requires full-time onsite support at the William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Pomona, NJ. Remote work is not supported for this position.
