Job description

SAIC is seeking a Space Systems Engineer with Model-Based Engineering experience to join our team supporting the Space Systems Command. The ideal candidate can translate the customer's needs into technical requirements and specifications so the team can deliver a customer focused engineering solution.

In this role, the systems engineer will support development and definition, including performing risk assessments, management of interfaces, technical planning, requirements verification and involvement in systems architecture development. The selected candidate will merge MBSE and systems-of-systems engineering and integration to create MBSE models that drive integration. Additionally, the candidate needs to be experienced in providing support in systems/subsystem integration and test while working closely with program management to assure complete program integrity. This is a fast pace / high temp position working out of Kirtland, AFB New Mexico with exciting opportunities to grow your career at SAIC.

  • Designing, developing, and supporting model-based systems to support a variety of systems.
  • Developing and improving Systems Engineering processes for the program that are appropriate for all levels of system development.
  • Effectively communicating with all levels of the organization to determine process needs and to support other engineers as a model-based systems SME.
  • Partnering with other Systems Engineers to design full life-cycle systems engineering processes that include documentation, workflow automation, efficiency measurement, bi-directional traceability.

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and 14 or more years of relevant experience; Master's degree and 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Active Top Secret or DoE Q clearance with SCI eligibility (must be eligible for SCI indoctrination within first 3 months of start date) and be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
  • Experience with defining and executing MBSE projects.
  • Familiar with MBSE tools, such as Cameo, MagicDraw or similar modeling tools.
  • Familiar with DOORs Next Gen.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and integration principles and concepts.
  • Ability to lead systems engineering activities that define and evolve a system of systems baseline.
  • Experience with test and evaluation.

  • Experience using MBSE tools, such as Cameo, MagicDraw or similar modeling tools.
  • Experience using DOORs Next Gen.
  • Ability to integrate MBSE models and other technical baseline data, including CAD, Models, and Sim.
