Senior CAD Drafter-Designer

Location:

Fabrication Facility, Farmington, NM

Reports to:

Fabrication Facility Manager

Summary of the position:

Responsible for creating detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD software, helping produce layouts from specifications, making modifications on standard models and drawings for a fabrication facility. Perform some detailing of engineering concepts as directed. Compile and maintain required documents and records.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Generate 2D and 3D models and drawings using AutoCAD software.

  • Work independently and as part of a team to produce and modify a variety of standard layouts, assemblies, and drawings for new and existing projects.

  • Work from standard product specifications using manufacturing and material quotes to guide design decisions.

  • Modify or adjust 2D/3D models according to defined specifications.

  • Meet project deadlines and timelines for drawing submittals.

  • Maintain records, documents, and findings.

  • Collaborate with shop personnel to incorporate design changes and updates.

  • Compile Bill of Materials and specification sheets

Education:

  • Associate degree or certificate in drafting or related field

  • 3+ years related technical experience and education applicable to mechanical drafting in a manufacturing environment

Professional experience:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Basic knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and tools

  • Strong logical, analytical, and results-oriented problem-solving skills.

  • Good Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD.

  • Strong math, blueprint reading skills, and the use of technical instructions.

  • Basic electrical and software systems knowledge is ideal.

  • Team player and self-motivated.

  • Ability to work attentively and efficiently at producing high quality work.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
