Job description

Description The Senior Librarian for the Beaufort District Collection is responsible for the development, maintenance and provision of access to the Beaufort District [Historical] Collection (BDC) (located in the Beaufort Branch Library) and local history collections at each library location. This includes acquisition, preservation, arrangement and reference service aspects of a special collection library and archival materials. The Historical Resources Coordinator is also responsible for the development of procedures and other relevant services specific to the Beaufort District Collection and resources.

Examples of Duties The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.

Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. Coordinates programming for all ages through planning, scheduling, delegation, partnerships, contract development and facilitation. Collections development, request books, films, etc.

Typical Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Requires Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS). Over two years and up to and including four years of related experience. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Supplemental Information All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
