General Description:ย ย ย This position reports to the high school principal.ย  The high school classroom teacher helps students learn subject matter, skills, and behavior that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God.

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in secondary education or related field

Duties and Responsibilities


Spiritual

  • Models a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ in speech, actions, attitudes
  • Actively involved in church
  • Follows Matthew 18 principle in dealing with interpersonal conflict
  • Encourages students to accept Godโ€™s gift of salvation and grow in their faith

Instructional

  • Effectively partners with parents
  • Ministers to the whole childโ€”spiritual, intellectual, physical, social, emotional.ย 
  • Maintains teaching environment conducive to student learning
  • Teaches classes as assigned and scheduled by the administrator
  • Demonstrates mastery of the subject matter
  • Proactively plans for curriculum instruction
  • Uses effective teaching methods to challenge students achieve promote learningย 
  • Effectively utilizes educational technology
  • Teaches and designs curriculum from a biblical worldview
  • Uses formative and summative assessments to promote student learning

Non-instructional

  • Attends and carries out effective parent teacher conferences
  • Maintains regular and accurate attendance and grade recordsย 
  • Performs additional duties as specified by the principal (lunch, break, carpool, etc)
  • Attends high school events such as class level trips, musicals, fine arts night, concerts, athletic events, etc.
  • Attends high school graduation
  • Works co-curricular concessions/gate three times per year ($10 per hour)
