Summary of Position
The Full-time, Computer Science faculty (12 month contract) is an instructional position directly responsible to the Computer Science Department Chair. The instructor's duties and responsibilities are teaching students, preforming a variety of administrative duties, and coordinating activities.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Software Development, or a closely related field from a nationally, regionally, or state-recognized accredited institution of higher education required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Software Development, or a closely related field from a nationally, regionally, or state-recognized accredited institution of higher education.
  • A minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline or a closely related field.
  • Relevant industry experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Software Development, Networking, Systems Administration, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, or other related technical fields.
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level, including online instruction, is preferred.
  • Relevant industry certifications (such as CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, ISC2, EC-Council, VMware, or similar) are desirable.
Wage earning work experience related to the competencies or learning outcomes of various CTC Computer Science courses is required. This experience must be exclusive of teaching.
Knowledge Skills and Ability
  • Must possess a demonstrated knowledge in the subject matter being taught and the ability to communicate with students in a clear manner and to author tests and lesson plans.
  • Must possess the ability to provide academic and vocational guidance to students as needed.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communications skill, extensive Internet skills.

Essential Functions
  • Teach courses via all delivery methods as assigned and according to syllabi and textbooks as approved by the department. Adhere to assigned class time schedule.
  • Hold office hours. Become cognizant of department degree plans and requirements; advise students and assist them in obtaining their educational goals.
  • Advise the department chair of needed supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain/submit certification rosters and final grade books by deadline set by registrar
  • Provide statistical information as requested. Track attendance/post final grades to Blackboard.
  • Assist in the supervision of the Laboratory facilities.
  • Attend Faculty Pre-Service, In-Service and all graduation ceremonies.
  • Serve as liaison to Adjunct Faculty
  • Participate in institutional activities such as faculty senate, IE and SACS committees
  • Maintain professional development and credentials, keeping current with emerging technologies.
  • Provide resources for faculty training and mentor new faculty, conduct instructor peer evaluations.
  • Keep course content updated, review and recommend textbook (s) and software, develop online content for online courses. Provide input for curricula update.
  • Assist in recruiting activities that will encourage students to enroll in departmental courses.
  • Safeguard and maintain department equipment and college property.
  • Other duties assigned by the department chair.
