Position Announcement

The Department of Health Care Diagnostics and Therapeutics at UtahTech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applicants for afull-time professional-track Instructor of the Practice ortenure-track Assistant Professor of Paramedicine faculty position,to begin Spring Semester 2027. The Paramedic Program is located at the University’s Taylor Health Sciences building and is designed toprepare students for career opportunities in pre-hospital emergencycare, such as ambulance, fire department, search and rescue, lawenforcement, and volunteer service. Responsibilities
  • Provide Paramedic course instruction and clinicalsupervision.
  • Assist in the development of curriculum for the paramedicprogram, including course design and materials.
  • Ensure the program meets all regulatory and CoAEMSPaccreditation requirements.
  • Assist in recruitment and training of program faculty and staffto ensure effective delivery of the program curriculum.
  • Monitor student progress, provide feedback and support, andfacilitate remediation as needed.
  • Collaborate with other educational institutions, healthcareproviders, and industry partners to maintain current knowledge andbest practices in the field of emergency medical services.
  • Collaborate with other UT programs, faculty, and staff toimplement interprofessional experiences among programs andstudents.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies,accrediting bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliancewith all regulations and standards, including those related toCoAEMSP accreditation.
  • Prepare for and participate in CoAEMSP accreditation sitevisits and assessments, and implement changes as directed byprogram director.
  • Ensure that program evaluations and assessments are completedon a regular basis, and implement changes as needed.
  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure that they are keptconfidential.
  • Participate in community outreach and marketing efforts topromote the program and increase enrollment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers and otherstakeholders to ensure that the program meets the needs of thelocal job market.
  • Initiate, facilitate and maintain liaison with community EMSprofessionals, educational programs, and advisory committees;assist in the development of contracts with community healthagencies.
  • Assure compliance with OSHA standards for infectioncontrol.
  • Assist with student recruitment, advisement, placement, andfollow-up efforts.
  • Improve professionally and maintain currency in the field.
  • Perform defined campus-wide duties, including holding officehours, attendance at department and division meetings, andadherence to college, division, and university policies andprocedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an educational or healthcare fieldrequired for professional-track, Instructor of the Practice.Master’s degree in an educational or healthcare field required fortenure-track, Assistant Professor.
  • Must be a currently certified Utah Paramedic.
  • Must be certified as a Utah EMS Course Coordinator or eligiblefor certification within six months of hire.
  • Must have Utah EMS Instructor Endorsement, ACLS InstructorCertification, CPR Instructor Certification, and PALS InstructorCertification or eligible for certification within 90 days ofhire.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in paramedicine,including teaching experience.
  • Experience in pre-hospital care, education and/or experience asa provider or supervisor of pre-hospital care required.
  • Successful teaching experience in emergency medicine/emergencyresponse field.
  • Ability to develop innovative curricula and appropriate coursecontent, relative to current trends and methodologies in EMSeducation.
  • Knowledge of computer-based technology as used in clinical andeducational environments.
  • Knowledge of state and national regulations governing paramediceducation, as well as CoAEMSP accreditation standards andrequirements.
  • Proven skill in leadership and management, including budgeting,faculty/staff development, and faculty/staff evaluation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonalskills.
  • Ability to represent the EMS programs and Utah Tech Universityto campus stakeholders, community members, accrediting bodies,etc.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and towork in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work evening and Saturday instruction in classes andclinicals as needed.
Supplemental InformationPOSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
