Job description

The Recruitment and Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in shaping the future of the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) by leading strategic recruitment and outreach efforts. In collaboration with UTC Admissions, this position focuses on attracting and engaging prospective undergraduate students from Tennessee and surrounding states. The Specialist will design and implement marketing strategies, manage recruitment events, and build strong relationships with internal and external partners to support CECS enrollment goals.

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree and experience with admissions operations at a higher education institution.

Preferred: 

  • Experience building community relationships and working in student-facing roles.

  • Familiarity with federal guidelines for student engagement.

  • Experience in training and supervising others, including students. 

Recruitment

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies targeting high school and community college students.
  • Represent CECS at college fairs, STEM expos, military education events, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with UTC Admissions and CECS departments on major recruitment events.
  • Create and manage marketing materials, web content, and social media campaigns.

Prospective Student Engagement & Advising 

  • Advise prospective students and families on admissions, scholarships, and CECS pathways.
  • Organize campus tours, classroom visits, and information sessions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for transfer and post-baccalaureate students.
  • Supervise student staff assisting with tours and engagement activities.

Outreach Program Coordination 

  • Coordinate summer camps and other outreach programs in partnership with CECS departments.
  • Use CRM tools to manage applications and track engagement.

Recruitment Communications & CRM Management 

  • Execute targeted email and phone campaigns.
  • Monitor engagement metrics to refine communication strategies.

Budget Oversight 

  • Ensure recruitment activities and materials stay within budget allocations.

The ideal candidate will possess the following: 

  • Proficiency with computer operating systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with high-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Capable of working independently to achieve CECS goals.
