Job description

Relay Launchpad Intern: Product Management - Summer 2027
Relay, a dynamic and rapidly growing tech startup based in Raleigh, is on a mission to revolutionize frontline work. We've pioneered an entirely new product category: simple, rugged, smart-radio, along with a comprehensive cloud ecosystem, designed for B2B clients and frontline workers across diverse industries. Having achieved proven product-market fit by solving real-world customer pain and unlocking new capabilities, we're now expanding our Product team.
Our team is seeking driven and high-achieving undergraduate students for a paid summer 2027 Product Management Internship. The students should have an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029. We view these cohorts as a vital pipeline for identifying and cultivating our future full-time Product team members.
Job Overview:
This is not a traditional internship-it's a rotational experience designed to expose interns to multiple sub-domains of product management and adjacent functions. Depending on your skills, interests, and performance, you'll rotate through and flex into areas such as:
  • Core Product Management - shaping the roadmap, guiding discovery and delivery, and bringing AI-powered products to life.
  • Revenue Strategy - analyzing markets, pricing, and GTM (go-to-market) strategy to accelerate adoption and growth.
  • Solutions Engineering - engaging directly with customers to design, validate, and demonstrate AI-driven solutions in real-world environments.

You'll get hands-on exposure to how Relay brings its mission to life-from defining frontline needs, to designing features, to aligning GTM motions, to tailoring AI solutions for enterprise customers.
Based at our Raleigh headquarters, this is a full-time internship (40 hours/week) with five days in office each week. This not a remote position.
What you will do:
Core Responsibilities:
  • Support the Product Management Team on key initiatives and projects, contributing to the overall product strategy and roadmap.
  • Contribute to the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and research through development, launch, and post-launch analysis.
  • Explore and integrate AI capabilities: Proactively identify opportunities to leverage AI/ML to enhance product features, derive deeper customer insights, and optimize product management workflows.

Product Discovery
  • Participate in customer visits and calls to observe and learn how we identify opportunities for product innovation and differentiation.
  • Consistently review analytics to identify areas of opportunity, understand user behavior, and inform product improvements.
  • Assist in documenting, analyzing, and prioritizing feedback from internal customer-facing teams.
  • Conduct solution discovery, trialing new products and features directly with customers to gather insights and validate solutions.

Product Delivery
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering and QA to design viable and usable products and ensure timely delivery of features.
  • Assist in defining product requirements and user stories for both new features and enhancements.
  • Participate in sprint planning and stand-ups, ensuring product goals are clearly communicated and understood by development teams.
  • Assist in driving product adoption and training by contributing to Release Notes and aligning with Operations and Sales teams.
What you will bring to this role:
  • Candidates from the graduating classes of December 2027 through May 2029 at Universities in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill are eligible to apply for this program.
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, or a related technical or business field with a GPA of 3.7 or above.
  • A strong blend of business and technical acumen, with the ability to engage meaningfully and add value in discussions encompassing both technology and business strategy.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies: A keen interest in staying abreast of cutting-edge technologies, particularly within the AI and real-time data space, and identifying how they can create new value for users.
  • A passion for entrepreneurship with the ability to thrive and react proactively to changing business needs within a dynamic, high-growth startup environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams and with customers.
