Pay Range: Actual pay may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for incentive compensation.

Job Summary

We are looking for an intern with ASL linguistics knowledge and a technical background to join our generation team for a 6-month internship. The intern will work on glossing and annotating ASL Classifier (CL) video data to support our English-to-Gloss translation model and avatar signing pipeline.

Key areas of work include annotation schema design, high-level feature labeling, minimal pair analysis, and helping design evaluations (such as A/B testing) for CL outputs. The intern will also design a CL inventory to be added to our dictionary, with a demo at the end of the internship. This is a hands-on role that bridges ASL linguistics and technology. Strong candidates will be native-level ASL signers with interest in sign language technology and comfort with data annotation or analysis tools.

Salary Range: $20-$30/hr DOE

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Native ASL signing skills
  • Background in linguistics, CS, data science, or a combination
  • Familiarity with ASL classifier systems is a plus.
  • Interest in sign language generation technology
  • Comfortable with video annotation tools and/or basic data analysis

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
