veritree is an award-winning climate tech start-up based in Vancouver. Launched in 2021, our technology measures and verifies the impact of global restoration efforts from the ground up. We are a small team on a big mission to plant 1 billion verified trees by 2030 with our community of businesses, planting organizations, and consumers who believe in the transformative power of verified restoration projects to create real and meaningful impact for the planet, nature, and people.

Role Overview:

veritree is seeking a Summer Intern to support the development of nature technology research and data methodologies. This role is ideal for an early-career professional with a strong interest in impact measurement in nature restoration. The role will contribute to research, copyediting, data analysis, and science operations while gaining experience at the intersection of technology and restoration science.

What Youโ€™ll Do:

Research & Methodology Support

  • Assist in the design and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and research protocols across different ecosystems, including mangroves, agroforestry, wildfire restoration, urban forestry and kelp.
  • Contribute to literature reviews, methodology benchmarking, and updates on relevant nature tech innovations.
  • Keep up to date with the latest research, initiatives, and market developments.

Science Administration & Operations

  • Track and organize research tasks, timelines, and partner communications as needed.
  • Perform data cleaning and quality assurance checks on incoming datasets, ensuring consistency with metadata and standards.
  • Provide background research and copy editing support for marketing materials.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Ability to synthesize peer-reviewed literature to develop white papers, reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Demonstrated interest in carbon, sustainability, forestry, nature tech, or restoration monitoring.
  • Basic proficiency in the GIS tools and concepts required for georeferencing, digitizing, and editing spatial data.
  • Proficiency in basic data analysis tools (Excel, Google Sheets; Python or R).
  • Demonstrated expertise in writing and communicating scientific ideas for diverse audiences.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Basic understanding of carbon, biodiversity, or social impact assessment frameworks.

Personal:

  • Proactive, organized, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Passionate about nature restoration and climate action.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in documenting processes and preparing summaries for internal use.
  • Willingness to work across diverse tasks, from research to administrative responsibilities.
