COMPUTER AND FILM EQUIPMENT TECHNICIAN

Maintain Windows based hardware and software.

  • Maintain hardware and software in Windows based computer labs, classrooms and faculty offices, including Windows and MS Office software as well as various film based software such as DaVinci Resolve, Avid ProTools, Adobe Creative Suite and Movie Magic.
  • Advising on purchase of computer software and hardware.
  • Help maintain classroom A/V equipment

Manage film program equipment room.

  • Develop training guides for new equipment and assist students with equipment.
  • Scheduling and checking out/in equipment, sound stage and grip truck.
  • Advising on purchase of new equipment.
  • Assist in maintenance and repair of equipment, department sound stage and grip truck.
  • Manage, train and schedule Graduate Assistants and student workers in equipment room.
  • Complete an annual inventory of equipment w/ student assistants
  • Familiarity with digital video cameras, digital cinema cameras with lenses and full camera builds, LED lights, digital audio recorders and various support equipment such as tripods, stands, microphones, sleds, gimbals, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • BA in Computer Science or Film Production and experience with computers and as a film equipment technician.
  • Ability to install and configure computer hardware and software specific to film production and teaching.
  • Ability to maintain an equipment checkout room with 2-3 person staff.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree.
