Responsibilities
Octave is seeking a CAD System Consultant to lead the implementation of our computer aided dispatch solutions for public safety agencies. This role is critical to delivering mission-critical technology that supports emergency response operations and community safety.
The CAD System Consultant operates as a key member of a delivery pod, working closely with Project Managers, Technical Leads, and customers to design, configure, and deploy solutions that align with real-world operational needs. This is a highly collaborative, customer-facing role with travel requirements of up to 50-60%, depending on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Lead customer workshops to gather operational, technical, and workflow requirements across public safety environments
โ€ข Design and configure complex workflows aligned to public safety operations and approved Functional Design Documents (FDDs)
โ€ข Lead simple data modeling and data conversion activities
โ€ข Perform complex configuration, installation, and deployment of Octave's COTS products
โ€ข Support and occasionally lead database administration activities, including data validation and environment readiness
โ€ข Act as a subject matter expert in customer-facing engagements, providing guidance on best practices and operational alignment
โ€ข Lead and support customer acceptance testing, including issue resolution and validation of system functionality
โ€ข Lead end-user, train-the-trainer, and system administration training
โ€ข Ensure system configuration aligns with approved Functional Design Documents (FDDs) and project scope
โ€ข Collaborate with Technical Leads and Project Managers to ensure solution quality, scope alignment, and delivery progress
โ€ข Support go-live, stabilization, and post-production activities as required
โ€ข Provide clear and consistent status updates and documentation to support project tracking and transparency
โ€ข Accurately track time and project activities in alignment with delivery expectations
โ€ข Other duties as assigned
Education / Qualifications
Education & Professional Experience
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Sciences, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
โ€ข Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in software implementation, technical consulting, or application development
โ€ข Experience working with mission-critical or public safety systems (CAD, PSAP, or field operations) is highly desirable
Technical & Delivery Expertise
โ€ข Proven experience in requirements gathering, solution design, and system implementation
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to lead technical tasks and support successful production deployments
โ€ข Experience delivering customer presentations and training sessions (end users and/or administrators)
Customer & Business Skills
โ€ข Strong ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships
โ€ข Solid understanding of professional services delivery and business priorities
