Childcare Intern (Unpaid)ย 

Job Type:ย Part-Time, Unpaid Internshipย Schedule:ย Up to 20 hours/week within the hours ofย Mondayโ€“Thursday, 10:00 AMโ€“3:00 PMย Work Location:ย In Personย 

Position Overviewย 

The Childcare Internย is responsible forย assistingย the childcare provider in creating a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children living at ACCESS. This role is ideal for students pursuing a degree in early childhood education or a related field who are passionate about serving women and children experiencing homelessness.ย 

Qualificationsย 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in child development, early childhood education, or a related fieldย 

  • Minimum 1 year of childcare or teaching experience preferredย 

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification preferredย 

  • Reliable personal transportationย requiredย 

  • Dedicated to the mission of serving women and children experiencing homelessnessย 

  • Self-motivated, creative, flexible, reliable, and detail-orientedย 

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and follow-through skillsย 

Responsibilitiesย 

Childcare & Programmingย 

  • Provide childcare during scheduled programming andย additionalย hours as neededย 

  • Supervise field trips to local points of interest (zoo, state parks, sporting events, etc.)ย 

  • Teach foundational skills to children, including reading, arts and crafts, and other enrichment activitiesย 

  • Assistย with facilitating summer activities with childrenย 

Administrative & Team Supportย 

  • Assistย at the Central Station front desk as neededย 

  • Support case managers and other staff as neededย 

  • Attend outside training opportunities asย requiredย 

  • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook and departmental procedure manualsย 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Child Advocateย 

Physical Requirementsย 

  • Ability toย lift upย to 50ย lbsย occasionallyย 

  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds and visual situationsย 

  • Occasionally required to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlย 

  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditionsย 

  • Work environment noise level isย generally moderateย
