Description

SAIC seeks a highly experienced and energetic CAD/CAM drafter in Colorado Springs, Colorado to support the US Space Force, Space Systems Command, in performing operational maintenance and sustainment of ground-based radars critical to US and Allied strategic missile surveillance, warning, defense, and space surveillance missions.

In support of the government customer, the SAIC Program Manager, and the Chief Engineer, the CAD/CAM drafter are responsible for responsive and coherent planning, development and delivery of PARCS and UEWR radar hardware and software modifications in response to change requests and deficiency reports. 

Job Duties:

  • Edits existing and creates new engineering drawings using CAD programs such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Ensures proper application of applicable government standards, ASME standards, and other guidelines for drafting engineering drawings.
  • Collaborates with project engineers to clarify and answer questions regarding drawing updates and support teams during planning sessions.
  • Reviews drawing updates and new drawings created by peers to ensure all information is incorporated correctly and all standards are followed.
  • Participates with drafting team members to brainstorm, create, and update drafting quality checklists, drafting guides, and other team documentation.
  • Coordinates with Configuration Management to ensure drawing baseline is maintained and updated by downloading work and uploading finished drawings in product lifecycle management platform.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5+ years’ experience drafting to support DoD/DoW or DHS.
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Proficiency in CAD programs such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with experience in hardware drawings, assembly drawings, low voltage electrical schematics, rack elevations, interconnect diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage documentation tasks for multiple products concurrently.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment with minimal supervision.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Certification in AutoDesk AutoCAD.
  • Experience working with agile teams and methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience sustaining PARCS, or other Strategic Warning and Surveillance radar systems such as PAVE PAWS and UEWR.
  • Proficiency with graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop.
