Overview Drafter/CAD Operator I LOCATION: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL JOB STATUS: Full-time CLEARANCE: Ability to Obtain Secret CERTIFICATION: NA TRAVEL: NA SALARY: $45,656.00 - $49,920.00 Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Drafter/CAD Operator I for the RTC Test and Engineering Services (RTES) Contract supporting the Army Division. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS 1 year of vocational school training in electrical or mechanical engineering drafting. Must be flexible in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, competing priorities, and unpredictable events.
  • Thorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Government security clearance. (Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening.
Must have a valid driver's license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, including: part modeling, assembly creation, drawing generation, and basic configurations. * Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain drafting accuracy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). RESPONSIBILITIES Develop innovative mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks CAD software. * Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, assembly guides, and project reports to support production and quality assurance efforts.
  • Oversee projects from initial concept through prototyping to final release, ensuring alignment with RTC standards, configuration protocols, and client specifications.
  • Contribute to design reviews by offering and receiving constructive, solutions-focused feedback.
