Job description

Koniag IT Systems, LLC (KITS), a Koniag Government Services (KGS) company, is seeking a Computer Operator II to support KITS and our government customer in Durham, NC.

The Computer Operator II will be responsible and required to possess a detailed operational knowledge of the processing requirements and system flow for all operational systems. These tasks and responsibilities are in addition to those listed for Computer Operator I.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine tasks to maintain production efficiencies, operational equipment, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Maintains a detailed understanding of the job processing requirements and data flow for all applications systems.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of systems commands and job control.
  • Work closely with operators in a lower classification and management to coordinate accurate and timely recordkeeping.
  • Maintains an understanding of production practices and procedures and assists in the resolution of production problems and issues.
  • Fulfills tasks of operators in a lower classification when the need arises.
  • Maintains related logs and records.
  • Performs clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assists in the training of operators in a lower classification.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Thorough knowledge of modern operating systems, networking, and MS Office software.

Education, Training, & Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3+ years of personal computer experience. (required)
  • Some higher education experience or successful completion of related programs in data processing and computer operations. (preferred)
  • Two years of experience in business mailroom, print operations, and/or mail sorting experience. (preferred)
  • Experience with using loading and maneuvering equipment safely and effectively. (preferred)

Qualifications:

  • Candidates who hold an active public trust government clearance are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates who are willing to undergo a background investigation to receive a government clearance will be strongly considered.
  • Candidates must be able to work Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm daily. (Hours may vary based on workload and candidates must be flexible)
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to stand for significant periods of time.
