Outpatient Pharmacy Intern - PRN/Casual
Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as a Retail Pharmacy Intern. This role is intended for someone that has a passion for pharmacy and exemplifies great customer service for the patients we serve. Nebraska Medicine pharmacy interns are involved with unique experiences such as Meds to Beds, pharmacy automation, non-sterile compounding, and caring for complex patients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing a positive patient experience, delivering medications and providing education to discharging patients, dispensing prescriptions and vaccine administration.
The candidate selected for this position will work at our Nebraska Medicine pharmacy locations: the Durham Outpatient Center, the Lauritzen Outpatient Center, and the Bellevue Medical Center and may train at Nebraska Medicine's HUB Pharmacy.
Ideally this role will be for an incoming P1 entering pharmacy school, and will support start dates after May 11th 2026.
The Pharmacy Intern role will be PRN/Casual, working weekday and weekends on both day/evening shifts. Shifts are 4 hours on weekdays and 4-8 hours on weekends. To be considered for this role, one must be currently enrolled OR enrolled for the Fall semester in an ACPE Doctor of Pharmacy Program and either a licensed Nebraska Pharmacy Intern OR Registered as a Pharmacy Technician.
Shift:
  • PRN/Casual
  • Shifts at the Durham Outpatient Center will be 4-8pm on weekdays (1-2 shifts per week) and 8-4:30pm on weekends (one weekend day every other week).
  • Shifts at the Bellevue Medical Center will be 9-1pm on Saturdays.

Outpatient Pharmacy Intern Duties:
Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the incumbent shall prepare, dispense and distribute medication and provide clinical monitoring and drug information in a manner, which ensures optimal patient care.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Currently accepted to an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and patients.
  • Employee must demonstrate basic computer skills and use of typical office equipment.
  • Licensed Nebraska pharmacy intern(or within 45 days of the start of their pharmacist program), or registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification preferred.
