Job description

Our Vision: Be the best at what we do. Our Mission: Improve lives through technology.

Summary:

Customer Inspired isn't our slogan-it's our driving force, and it shapes everything we do. Whatever our role, we are committed to the relentless pursuit of being the best at what we do, delivering unbeatable experiences, and improving lives through technology. We bring an unapologetic passion for innovation, act with urgency and ownership, and work as One Team to build what comes next.
As a Solutions Engineer, you will serve as a senior technical expert supporting C Spire Business Technology sales opportunities, partnering directly with customers and sales teams to understand business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable network, cloud, and managed services solutions. You will own technical discovery and solution design across complex customer environments, ensuring that what C Spire sells is technically sound, clearly documented, and ready for successful implementation.

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do

In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results.

Partner with Sales, customers, and prospects to understand business objectives, technical requirements, existing environments, and constraints and translate them into effective technology solutions.

Design managed cloud, network, Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, VoIP/SIP, and related solutions for commercial and enterprise customers, including complex multi-site environments.

Develop advanced network designs incorporating Ethernet, fiber optics, MPLS, TCP/IP, routing, switching, Wi-Fi, and routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and static routing.

Design managed and cloud services solutions incorporating virtualization, compute, storage, Hardware as a Service (HaaS), SaaS, and other enterprise technologies as appropriate to customer requirements.

Conduct pre- and post-sales site surveys and technical assessments to validate requirements, identify dependencies and risks, and ensure proposed solutions can be successfully implemented.

Create clear solution specifications, topology diagrams, technical documentation, and order requirements that accurately translate the proposed design into an implementation-ready solution.

Provide technical consultation, presentations, and product demonstrations throughout the sales lifecycle, clearly communicating complex technologies to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Service Delivery, and other internal teams to support the transition from opportunity through implementation and resolve technical issues that could affect successful delivery.

Build trusted relationships with customers, partners, vendors, and internal teams by providing credible technical guidance and maintaining ownership throughout the solution lifecycle.

Support product education for Sales and Customer Service teams, mentor less-experienced Solutions Engineers, and contribute technical expertise to new product and service development.

Represent C Spire at select customer meetings, partner engagements, telecommunications conferences, and industry events.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

This position provides the opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with customer-facing consulting, helping businesses solve complex technology challenges while shaping solutions across C Spire's network, cloud, and managed services portfolio. From Solutions Engineer, you will have a strong springboard into broader opportunities across solutions architecture, engineering leadership, product strategy, and technology consulting.

Qualifications:

What You Will Bring

As a C Spire team member you will bring a relentless obsession to be the best in our industry and a winning mentality, determined to outsmart and outdo competitors. You will have a single-minded commitment to unbeatable internal and external customer experiences. You will combine technical depth with consultative communication, using your understanding of enterprise technology to uncover customer needs, develop practical solutions, and translate complex designs into recommendations customers and internal teams can confidently act on.

In addition to that, we require:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and relevant professional experience.

At least five years of progressively responsible experience in telecommunications, information technology, network engineering, cloud engineering, solutions engineering, or a related technical field.

Experience supporting the pre-sales solution lifecycle, including technical discovery, requirements gathering, solution design, customer presentations, site surveys, technical documentation, and transition to implementation.

Demonstrated experience designing complex solutions for commercial or enterprise customers, including technologies such as multi-site networking, SD-WAN, DIA, Wi-Fi, VoIP/SIP, and managed cloud services.

Advanced knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, fiber optics, MPLS, routing, switching, Wi-Fi, and routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and static routing.

Ability to translate customer requirements into scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective technical designs, including solution specifications, network diagrams, and implementation-ready documentation.

Strong consultative communication, presentation, problem-solving, project-management, and relationship-building skills.

We will give special consideration to candidates who have:

Seven or more years of relevant telecommunications, IT, network, cloud, or solutions engineering experience, including significant customer-facing pre-sales or technical consulting experience.

Experience designing complex, geographically distributed, highly available, or regulated enterprise environments.

Advanced experience with managed services, cloud infrastructure, virtualization, compute, storage, backup, disaster recovery, or Hardware as a Service.

Experience with technologies from Dell, VMware, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia, or comparable enterprise and carrier-grade platforms.

Experience incorporating cybersecurity, firewalls, secure access, resiliency, business continuity, and disaster recovery into customer solutions.

Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, VMware Certified Professional, AWS, Azure, Dell Technologies, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, or comparable credentials.
