Job description

About Switch

At Switch, we don’t just design, build and operate data centers—we are enabling the technology of the future. Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.

We believe that innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.

The Role: CAD BIM Manager

As a CAD BIM Manager, you will lead the creation, integration, and long-term management of data center Lifecycle drawing sets across Switch campuses. This role exists to ensure all building documentation is complete, accurate, and continuously maintained to support construction, operations, and future development.

You will own the systems and processes that integrate as-built, redline, and record drawings into unified Lifecycle sets. Your work directly reduces project rework, improves operational efficiency, and ensures teams can quickly access reliable building information.

You will also lead the CAD/BIM team, develop automation tools, and act as the central point of contact for engineering documentation across all data centers.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and manage the CAD/BIM team, including hiring, onboarding, and performance management
  • Own the creation and maintenance of Lifecycle drawing sets for all data center facilities
  • Ensure all as-built, redline, and record drawings are integrated into a single, accurate building set
  • Consolidate phased construction drawing sets into unified Lifecycle documentation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering, construction, and operations teams for documentation needs
  • Support Availability Engineering by maintaining accurate ACS and MEP drawing sets
  • Develop and implement processes to improve documentation accuracy, accessibility, and consistency
  • Build tools and automation workflows to streamline document processing and integration
  • Support document repository systems and ensure content is properly organized and accessible
  • Perform and oversee drafting updates based on markups and project changes
  • Conduct on-site validation of drawings and system conditions when required
  • Coordinate across engineering, construction, and operations teams on multiple concurrent projects
  • Track and report on team performance, output, and process improvements
  • Support current and future data center projects by managing increasing documentation volume across all sites
What We’re Looking For
  • You think in systems, not just drawings
  • You focus on accuracy, completeness, and long-term usability of documentation
  • You identify process gaps and build scalable solutions
  • You hold teams accountable to clear standards
  • You communicate clearly across engineering, construction, and operations teams
  • You prioritize work based on operational impact
  • You take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks
What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • 5+ years of CAD/BIM management or leadership experience
  • 10+ years of drafting experience across MEP and building systems
  • Experience managing drawings across full lifecycle (design ? construction ? operations)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building systems
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM workflows
  • Experience working with document management systems and repositories
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across locations

Preferred:

  • Experience in data center or mission-critical environments
  • Experience developing automation tools (Power BI, Python, or similar)
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Navisworks, Procore, SharePoint, or Smartsheet
  • Familiarity with BIM standards (AIA, NBIMS, ISO19650, PAS1192)
  • Experience with facilities maintenance or operations systems
  • Data Center or BIM-related certifications
Why Switch?
