Electrical Technology Lab Specialist 2
JOB CLASSIFICATION
Pay grade level: Grade 12
Compensation: $45,595 - $62,694. Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.

Location: Primarily Technical Education Center (TEC) and Pioneer Career Center (PCC), but any location assigned by the appropriate administrator
SUMMARY
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for a full-time lab specialist to provide high-quality, learner-centered lab assistance for students enrolled in the Electrical Technology program while supporting the institution's mission, vision, and strategic plan.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
  • Collaborate with program instructors on daily lab activities, ensure labs are set up per faculty guidance, and students follow appropriate clean-up protocol daily.
  • Provide technical guidance in the performance of program-specific tasks.
  • Observe and support student performance of tasks assigned by the program instructors.
  • Support student on-task behaviors in classroom, lab setting, and off-site activities.
  • Ensure students follow safety practices.
  • Follow required procedures in handling hazardous chemicals and waste products.
  • Maintain records of the orders for proper accountability of materials.
  • Maintain control of college-owned specialty tools, equipment, and resources for use by students.
  • Ensure all program tools, equipment, resources, and other materials are in good working order following program maintenance processes.
  • Maintain program inventory or all necessary resources, reporting to program personnel on any repairs, replacements, upgrades, or purchase of additional resources. Ensure prompt ordering of items in collaboration with faculty.
  • Enforce all rules and regulations per the college's guidelines and other enforcement agencies that govern KCKCC's student practices.
  • Assist with organizing all aspects of Electrical Technology projects, including good stakeholder relationships, meeting deadlines, and producing quality work.
  • Transport students during field trips, customer jobs, and other activities per the college's policies and guidelines.
  • Participate in regular professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to train and work with multi-cultural students and learners.
  • Strong computer and technology skills.
  • Able to work professionally and collaboratively with industry partners.
  • Knowledge of the latest industry technology and ability to integrate the technology into the program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma and/or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) years of work experience in a technical/industrial field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Training experience.
  • Computer skills such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in learner-centered pedagogy.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift items.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (CT). Flexibility to work a variable schedule is required to meet operational needs, including the possibility of evening and weekend hours.
