About Us

Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY) is the leading provider of homeless youth services in the DC Region. For over 50 years, SBY has provided safe homes, life skills, and workforce development to vulnerable youth. Our programs reach over 5,000 runaway, homeless, abused, and neglected youth and their families annually.


Job Summary

The Case Manager at the 8th St Drop-In Center provides trauma-informed case management, crisis intervention, and resource navigation for homeless and unstably housed youth ages 18–24. This role conducts assessments, develops individualized case plans, facilitates referrals, and provides culturally and linguistically responsive services to meet the needs of diverse youth. The Case Manager works closely with the Drop-In Center team to deliver wraparound support, life skills training, and socio-cultural activities. The hours for this role are 10 AM - 6 PM.


Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach and engagement with youth

• Complete intake assessments and develop individualized case plans with youth

• Provide harm reduction counseling, crisis intervention, and ongoing case management

• Facilitate referrals to housing, healthcare, mental health, legal, education, and employment services

• Assist youth in scheduling and attending appointments; accompany as needed

• Deliver life skills workshops, socio-cultural activities, and educational sessions

• Maintain timely and accurate case records using HMIS and internal databases

• Collaborate with Drop-In Center staff to provide concrete supports (e.g., meals, showers, hygiene supplies, computer lab access)

• Participate in team meetings, consultation with clinicians, case managers, and other staff

• Complete timely and accurate documentation of services in client case records

• Participate in staff training, community outreach, and events, ensuring required trainings are completed annually;

• Provide crisis intervention and on-site counseling as needed

• Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• Minimum two years of experience working with youth or young adults

• Experience working with LGBTQ youth, youth of color, and youth with mental health diagnoses is a plus

• Strong knowledge of community resources, housing pathways, and social services navigation

• Understanding of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and positive youth development

• Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills

• Flexible schedule

• Reliable transportation and ability to pass background checks
