Reason for need: This consultant will be joining the Boone, NC, clinical informatics team onsite to help with inpatient and potentially ambulatory needs.
Project Details: This client is a large regional health system that is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Inpatient Clinical Informaticist to support their Boone location. This role bridges clinical operations and health information technology by supporting the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of electronic health record (Epic) systems, specifically in the inpatient care setting.
Job Description
Must Have Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, or a related clinical field required.
- RN or other licensed clinical background strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an inpatient setting.
- At least 1-2 years of experience working in clinical informatics or EHR optimization (Epic experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare regulations, and patient safety practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Nice to Have:
- Epic Optime experience
Education/Certification Requirements: BA or BS in computer science or a computer-related field and 5 years of related experience
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clinical and IT teams to optimize workflows and documentation within the EHR system (primarily Epic).
- Analyze current inpatient clinical processes and recommend digital solutions to improve safety, efficiency, and compliance.
- Provide EHR training, go-live support, and ongoing education to clinical staff and leadership.
- Monitor data integrity, user satisfaction, and adoption rates, providing feedback to system analysts and leadership.
- Serve as a liaison between clinical end-users and technical teams to ensure system changes reflect clinical needs.
- Participate in testing, validation, and rollout of new system functionality or upgrades.
- Stay informed on clinical informatics best practices, compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA), and industry trends.
