Job description

Title: Computer Technician Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY
Supports the Technology Services Department by supervising a team of computer technicians and performing and coordinating complex computer maintenance through effective troubleshooting and repair of computers, peripherals, data communications or computer network systems in classrooms and instructional spaces for the College’s six extended campuses.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under general direction, independently assign and review work of computer technicians who perform complex troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, installation and testing activities, such as designing and fabricating specialized interfaces and communication links. In consultation with department leaders, plan and oversee complex installation projects. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs. Research and advise department leaders on the acquisition of new computing equipment.

Serve as a back-up computer technician as needed. Assist the department’s service desk with troubleshooting issues in the field. Supervises computer technicians on the College’s extended campuses, including providing training and guidance and setting appropriate goals and expectations for optimal job performance. Ensure all projects are properly recorded and documented in the service desk system. Maintain an inventory of critical parts and supplies for computer preventative and remedial maintenance.

Assist with the obtaining quotes for and the ordering of hardware and software products. Conduct and maintain an asset management system of computer equipment, software and associated peripherals for assigned areas. Lead problem-solving efforts with internal offices/colleagues and external vendors regarding equipment, technology and processes as needed. Provide responsive and transparent support to campus partners, ensuring the department delivers excellent customer. Stay current with audio visual equipment and technologies utilized by the campus community.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree

Four (4) years’ experience in repair, maintenance, troubleshooting and installation of computer hardware and software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a customer service-oriented environment

Experience with media and AV services

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficiency with computers, technology devices, software and applications at a level appropriate for the position’s duties. Ability to learn and use new technologies, software and applications. Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment. Ability and motivation to take ownership of projects and assignments by being proactive, forthcoming with ideas and information and suggesting process improvements. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, faculty, staff and students.
