Position Summary
Performs general administration and technical duties required to support activities and operations of the Information Technology Services department.
Essential Functions
Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job
  • Perform service desk functions, answers telephone, records, documents and troubleshoots customer issues.
  • Perform duties associated with setup, configuration and installation of system software products and peripheral equipment.
  • Program and troubleshoot personal computer software and hardware. Identifies, logs and resolves problems related to supported applications.
  • Assist in analyzing, evaluating and recommending techniques for implementation of new software applications and computer equipment.
  • Perform updates and maintenance of technology used by the City of Lewisville.
  • Provide temporary support for transferring open records information into digital records.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED RequiredMust be currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in information technology or a related field.
Experience: Six (6) months of related experience preferred.
Any combination of related, education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.
Licenses and Certifications: None.
Conditions of Employment: Must submit to and pass a pre-employment background and drug test. Must possess a valid State of Texas Driver's License Class "C" and good driving record as defined by City policy.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
  • Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating System.
  • Knowledge of general networking preferred.

Ability to:
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public, City employees and communicate clearly and tactfully with both customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
  • Ability to follow instructions, safety practices and standard operating procedures in performing assigned tasks.
  • Ability to be punctual and attend work regularly.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Skilled In:
  • Skill in use of personal computer including productivity applications, e-mail and PC connectivity preferred.
  • Skill in PC hardware maintenance and troubleshooting preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
