The Role:
As an electrical engineer, you'll play a pivotal role within our Maintenance, Technology, or Reliability Teams. Your responsibilities will include providing technical support, completing small design projects for electrical equipment repair or replacement, and contributing to initiatives focused on reliability, safety, and design improvements.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Collaborating daily with various teams to troubleshoot and optimize operations, ensuring safety and reliability. Responsibilities include authorizing equipment, sizing control valves, and designing electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Issuing instrument and electrical packages for equipment repair, covering motor controls, conduit, cabling, power supply, and electrical switchgear.
  • Engaging in project activities including scoping, prioritization, and detailed electrical and control system designs, from field to DCS systems, along with startup support, post-audit evaluations, and documentation.
  • Learning and applying codes and specifications, working with CAD and electrical designers, and participating in safety studies such as HAZOP and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
  • Providing estimates and designs for small capital projects, leading their implementation, and contributing to larger capital and technology groups for process improvement.
  • Supporting engineering efforts during turnarounds.

Skills & Knowledge Required
Education/Experience
  • Actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required.
  • Completed at least one year of engineering courses.

Preferred experience includes:
  • Plant experience during cooperative education or summer internships.
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment, including motor controls, electrical systems, and arc flash studies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot motor controls up to 4160 volts.
  • Experience sizing conduits, cables, and other electrical components.
  • Previous collaboration with outside vendors on coordination and electrical system studies.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation design from field to DCS systems.
  • Experience with Triconex PLCs is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting instrumentation loops and designing control systems.
  • Ability to size and select instruments and control valves.
