The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department is one of the top 10 suppliers of ECE talent at the BS level in the US, and ranks in the top ECE Departments in total annual research expenditures (ASEE). The department is located in state-of-the-art facilities on NC State's Centennial Campus. Essential Job Duties
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month Teaching Faculty position. As a part of the ECE Teaching Faculty, you will be joining a dynamic and collaborative department to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in areas such as programming, digital logic, embedded systems, digital hardware design, data structures, object-oriented programming, computer architecture, and other foundational topics in electrical and computer engineering. You will get the opportunity to engage with students in meaningful ways, contribute to curriculum development, and help shape the educational experience of future engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver course content for both small and large classroom settings
  • Assess and evaluate student learning outcomes
  • Coordinate and supervise teaching assistants
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of courses and curricula

Minimum Education and Experience
Rank of Teaching Assistant Professor - Demonstrated ability and the potential for directing activities in the mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility; ability and willingness to participate in department, college, and university affairs; a doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or closely-related discipline.
Rank of Teaching Associate Professor - Recognized ability and potential for distinction, and demonstrated ability to direct activities, in the mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility; demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in department, college, and university affairs; a doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or closely-related discipline.
Rank of Teaching Professor - Distinguished achievement, and demonstrated ability to direct activities, in the mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility; established reputation in the individual's profession; demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in department, college, and university affairs; a doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or closely-related discipline.
Rank of Lecturer - Ability or potential in the mutually agreed upon realms of responsibility; a master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or closely related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Rank of Senior Lecturer - In addition to the qualifications for Lecturer, at least five years of college-level teaching experience.
Other Required Qualifications
  • Strong communication and technical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas:
    • VLSI design
    • Computer system design
    • Software development
    • Logic verification
  • Proficiency with:
    • Verilog and EDA tools
    • Software development tools
    • C/C++ programming
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering preferred (teaching assistant, associate, full professor), or MS degree with substantial technical experience.
  • Ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Previous teaching and student mentoring experience, at the college or advanced high school level.
