Since its founding, PSI Engineering has evolved into a leading end-to-end pack line solutions provider, from consultation and design to manufacturing and support. PSI is recognized as a global expert in pack area automation for warehouse/fulfillment centers, otherwise known as the last 100 feet of the order fulfillment process. We work with clients globally to increase facility productivity, optimize labor costs, and improve overall order packing efficiency. The Opportunity The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining processes continuously improves PSI machines and systems performance. In this role, you will be responsible for design, programing, and testing FAT of systems integrated controls.  Key Responsibilities  * Develop functional requirements documentation and designs for PLC software and user interfaces. * PLC, HMI, and drive system programming, including ancillary hardware such as barcode scanners, scales, etc. * Work in conjunction with other company departments and the customer when completing designs. Other departments will include sales, software engineering, manufacturing, and field installation. * Provide engineering and automation excellence through concept planning, configuration, integration and testing of controls systems. * Test and troubleshoot various controls, mechanical and electrical systems, during FAT and remote support to field service. * Provide technical support and documented instruction for customers and team members. * Reviewing and maintaining systems and identifying improvements in the design incorporating trends. * Provide timely updates to project management and supervisor for progress against scope, schedule, and budget. * Travel to customer sites for engineering evaluations and inspections. Produce reports and recommendations based on these evaluations and inspections. * Assist in installation, testing, and de-bug of electrical components, machine startups, and commissioning. * Produce documentation for design basis based on project work scope. * Produce documentation for equipment operation, maintenance, vendor equipment, and training based on project requirements. Ideal Candidate Profile Education: * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Robotics and/or equivalent experience and training Experience: * 3+ years designing and commissioning automated material handling systems, including electrical design, PLC, HMI, drive, and motion controls * Mainly proficient in Siemens and AB PLC programming * Experience with AC and DC drive systems, including Lenze and SEW * Experience with PLC control networks, such as Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, EtherCAT, Profibus, Profinet, and AS-i Bus * Comprehensive knowledge of electrical controls engineering principles, concepts, practices, and codes (NEC, UL, CE, and NFPA) * Ability to travel throughout North America to support project design, installations, sales efforts, and inspections * Ability to operate in a team environment and communicate clearly to the intended audience * Possess the knowledge and experience to recognize when problems surface or are looming, and proactively bring the correct people together to solve these problems * Experience with sortation systems, conveyor systems, and overhead systems is an asset.
